Making music with glasses is easy and fun! You probably already have everything you need in your house right now! All you need is:

  1. a few glasses- Since this is just for fun, they don't need to be all the same size. Important note: Don't get the glasses your parents would ground you for life for breaking. It might be a good idea to ask permission to try this. Make sure you promise not to bang on the glasses really hard... since you won't, right?
  2. a spoon- or two if you're really feeling ambitious
  3. water- fill the glasses to different levels with water
  4. jam- carefully! It's glass!

Notice how the sound gets lower as the water gets higher?

Tap a glass as you fill it. As you add more water to the the glass, "it takes on a greater vibrating mass. Like the thicker strings of a bass, the larger mass produces sounds of lower frequency.
